Rhian Rodgers BSc Adult Nursing

What did you enjoy the most about the course and studying at Swansea University?

The practical sessions in the University and also the placements. The University was close to home, so I was able to drive every day.

What skills did you learn from completing the course and how did they help you get a job?

When I first qualified I felt like I didn’t know anything! However once I had started working everything started to make sense, and I was able to put what I had learnt into practice.

What have you gone on to do after graduating?

I have held positions in:

  • Dialysis Unit WWGH
  • Scrub/Scout
  • Anaesthetics and recovery Nurse

Where are you currently working and what are you enjoying most about it?

I work as an anaesthetics and recovery nurse in a little private hospital in Perth, Australia. Working in a theatre complex is very interesting, I’m able to see a variety of operations. I’m gaining experience and knowledge in anaesthetics, and dealing with different ways of intubating patients. Recovery is extremely interesting and there is so much to learn. Giving pain relief to patients following their procedures is always different depending on what operation each patient has had.
