DACE lecture: Emily Bronte and the Mother World

The next in the series of free community lectures organised by the Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE) at Swansea University takes place later this month.

Lecture summary: In an age of amateur biologists and zoologist, Emily Bronte came to her own defiant conclusions about the relations between humanity and creaturely life. Stevie Davies, author of four critical and biographical books on Bronte will consider Wuthering Heights and her poetry in the light of her heretical observations and Darwin’s jottings in early notebooks.
