SME tender opportunities on Bay Campus

Local companies in a range of service and supply areas are being given the opportunity to find out more about specific contracts on offer shortly on the new Bay Campus being developed by Swansea University with its development partner St. Modwen.

Vinci Construction UK, one of the two main contractors on site, is holding a Meet The Buyer event on 18th December, for companies who want to find out more about the packages and whether they want to tender for the work. Information sessions are being held on six different work areas where contracts will be offered in the near future.  These are:

  • Decorating - painting packages ranging from £50k - £250K
  • Furniture supply – linked to the student accommodation with packages ranging from £50k - £750k
  •  Signage – packages ranging from £5k - £20k
  • Soft Flooring – packages ranging from £200k - £400k
  • Tiling – packages ranging from £5k - £40k
  • Window Finishes – such as blackout curtains and blinds, packages ranging from £50k

The event, which will take place at Vinci Construction UK’s offices on the Bay Campus site, is open to companies which have not already attended any of the Meet The Buyer events held earlier this year and is part of the overall drive to maximise the opportunities for local companies to benefit from the £450m campus development being undertaken by Swansea University.

Michael Kavanagh, Buyer at Vinci Construction UK, said: “The Meet the Buyer events we held earlier this year were a great way for us to meet with companies interested in working with us on the development of the Bay Campus.  We have identified a number of trade areas where we think local companies could be a part of the supply chain and we want to give them an opportunity to find out about the contracts and what is required.  We’d encourage any company working in these areas, who hasn’t already met with us, to come along and find out about the project and the package that they’re interested in.”

The day is split into six segments, one for each trade area.  Those attending will be given a brief overview of the scheme and the requirements of that individual package, before being given the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

Representatives from Swansea Bay Partnership, as well as the Workways and Beyond Bricks & Mortar initiatives will also be present on the day to outline what support they can offer to local companies, both in tendering for work and in delivering the local recruitment and training targets which are being set for the work packages.

Attendance at the event is being co-ordinated by Swansea Bay Partnership and companies interested in attending must register in advance by contacting Liam Hedges,
