Swansea University’s Money Advice and Support Office (MASO), part of Student Services at the University, has won the prestigious Financial Capability Engagement Award 2016. The award was presented at the National Association of Student Money Advisers’ Student Money Advice Awards event on 28 June.
Money Advice and Support Office Manager at MASO Alison Maguire said: “We are pleased to have picked up the award for our Financial Capability Workshops for International Students, an initiative that has allowed us to work in partnership with colleagues in the International Student Advisory Service and English Language Training Services at Swansea University.
“The award reflects our dedication to working in collaboration with colleagues to deliver engaging information, advice and guidance to our international students.
“It reflects our commitment to supporting diversity within our institution by ensuring that financial concerns do not become a barrier to students in achieving their full potential.
The judges celebrated MASO’s ‘innovative and transformative’ approach to improving financial capability amongst the University’s student population.
MASO also received nominations in five out of five award categories on the night, from Best Partnership Award to Innovative Activity Award.
Alison added: “This acknowledgement that our commitment to supporting and enabling our students is recognised both in and beyond our institution is testament to the continuous hard work of the MASO team.”
