Swansea University continues its success story by climbing into the top 40 in the Guardian University League Tables for 2017.
The Guardian University League Tables which rank UK Universities, were published today and confirm that Swansea University is a rising star, having improved its overall ranking over the past year from 52nd to 39th – which is the largest jump by a university in Wales.The new ranking also indicates a remarkable performance by the University which has jumped 45 places in just 6 years, (from 94th in 2012 to 39th in 2017).
Amongst some of the most notable results for the University are for teaching (up 45 places to 15th place), overall course satisfaction (up 28 places to 7th place) and career prospects, which is at 14th place.
Some subject areas have scored at the very highest levels with Criminology being rated top in the country while four subjects - Social Policy and Administration, American Studies, Computer Science and Media and Film Studies appear in the top ten. A further seven subjects (Sports Science, Social Work, Mathematics, Engineering (General), Nursing and Midwifery, Medicine and Engineering: Chemical) are also featured in the top 20 courses in the UK.
This new ranking is the latest accolade that the University has received in recent months. It kicked off 2016 by appearing in the global top 200 in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking of the ‘most international universities’, in January. In March, Engineering disciplines were ranked among the world's elite by higher education data specialists QS in the World University Rankings 2016. Just a month later in April, the University won 2016 WhatUni Award for Best Courses and Lecturers, and in the same month it also featured in the top 50 in of the Complete University Guide.
