KESS Scholarships (MRes Programme)

These scholarships are part of the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarship (KESS) programme which aims at widening access to postgraduate study and encourage high calibre graduates to work on a range of collaborative research projects with small and medium sized organisations located in the Convergence Area of Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea & Torfaen).

*Please note these scholarships are subject to formal agreement between the company partner and the Department of Biosciences*

 

Eligibility

  • Only Masters applicants from the UK or EU are eligible
  • Applicants must be resident in the Convergence Area of Wales on enrolment and be permitted to work in the Convergence Area upon completion of the scholarship
  • Applicants should hold (or be expecting to achieve) a minimum of a 2.1 degree (or equivalent)

Funding

Scholarships will cover full UK/EU tuition fees and a generous £ £10,130 stipend towards student living costs award (tax free). In addition, up to £5200 will be available to cover consumables, ICT, travel and transport, skills training and academic travel for the year.

How to Apply

Students will need to complete a College of Science Scholarship Application form , a KESS Application form and a  KESS Equal Opportunities Form which should be returned (with original signatures) to Mrs Sandra Kramcha (address below).
