Maria’s main research interests are in developing research that supports policy and practice that promotes age equality and that is informed by the views and experiences of older people, particularly those older people who are seldom heard in research and policy making processes.  She completed her undergraduate degree at Swansea University in Philosophy and Sociology and subsequently worked for the Welsh Local Government Association, and various national NGOs in Wales including Oxfam Cymru, Action for Hearing Loss Cymru, and The Welsh Refugee Council.  She worked as the Equality and Inclusion Manager at Age Cymru for five years, and during this time completed her Master’s degree in Equality and Diversity at Cardiff University.
