I joined the CIA in 2008 as a Research Officer and have been able to develop my skills as a researcher in a stimulating environment before taking on the role as Post Graduate Programme Director in the Centre for Innovative Ageing. My interests are in social gerontology and the interaction of older adults both within their social environments and in the wider community. I have been involved in major research projects in the centre and continue to be actively involved in obtaining research funding and I am currently working with colleagues around the world to assess attitudinal intervention measures. Further to this I am interested in the formation, adaptation and expression of attitudes (both explicit and implicit) and the effects on social integration, marginalisation, stigmatisation and prejudice.
The Post Graduate programmes in the centre are growing both in student numbers and course diversity with Certificate and Diploma options being available from 2013. The modules are taught by research active staff, reflecting their research strengths, emerging fields in the discipline and our unique connections to the Welsh Government.
My affiliations & professional memberships are:
British Psychological Society (BPS);
British Society of Gerontology (BSG);
